Go for the High-Tech Toothbrush

Many dentists advise their patients today to switch over from the manual toothbrush to the power one.  This could be the electric toothbrush, or even the battery-operated toothbrush.  You may have been using a regular manual toothbrush up till now which has a plastic handle and has nylon bristles on the brush head.

Each one has his own brushing technique and the time spent brushing teeth everyday differs from person to person.  Even the amount of toothpaste or mouthwash which each one uses is not the same.  Experts are of the opinion that if you start using an electric toothbrush, you have to follow a definite brushing technique, which is ideal for brushing teeth.

The pressure applied on the teeth while brushing with a manual toothbrush is diverse, and if it is too much, the teeth enamel will start wearing off.  But an electric toothbrush controls the pressure; in fact, there is no pressure on the teeth at all.  You just place the brush on the part of the teeth which you want to brush, and an oscillating movement of the brush begins as soon as you switch it on. If you brush too hard, the pressure sensors send off a signal.  This is the best way to remove plaque from your teeth and not damage them in any way.

The rechargeable electric toothbrush is also known as the power toothbrush.  You can recharge the toothbrush by plugging it in.  The brush head must be replaced every three months, but the handle remains constant. There are two types of technology used for rechargeable electric toothbrushes which are the oscillating-rotating technology and the sonic technology.

The oscillating technology is considered ideal for plaque removal.  But the toothbrush can have several brushing modes, for example with whitening benefits, special gum-massaging action or a special mode for sensitive teeth.  There is a timer which helps you to track the amount of time you have been brushing, so that you can vary it accordingly. You can also choose the kind of bristles that you want on the brush head.

Adopt the correct brushing technique with the electric toothbrush and it can provide you with the best oral health benefits.
